Through an exciting collaboration between the Universities of Southampton, Brighton, Chichester and Portsmouth, the South Coast DTP aims to deliver the latest developments in training in research methods and skills to produce highly qualified and rounded social scientists, equipped to meet contemporary economic and social challenges.
Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, the South Coast DTP will be awarding 37 studentships for academic year 2026-2027 entry, to social scientists carrying out PhD studies, or Masters + PhD studies at its four partner institutions.
Before completing our online funding application form, you will need to have submitted an institutional application form for your chosen PhD programme. You do not need to be in receipt of an offer of a place at that institution, but your application must have been submitted. Please include the institutional application form reference number in your funding application, this will help matching your applications correctly.
Should you have any questions regarding the SCDTP, its funding opportunities, its application process, or any other issue, please feel free to contact us at scdtp@soton.ac.uk.
